I began writing monologues in Lancashire dialect in 1990 whilst
working for British Aerospace
at Warton Aerodrome Nr Blackpool
in Lancashire, England.
I was fascinated by a book that I had found, written by
Stanley Holloway in the 1950's,
in which there were several 'monologues' written by him and others,
but mostly written by the
master of the humorous monologue
'Marriott Edgar'
- I never have discovered whether Marriott was his first or
last name -
I was hooked and I was sure that I could
write a
humorous story in that style.....and so
I wrote my first one
'The Message'
More were to follow in 1991 to keep me and my friends amused,
and one or two were published in magazines
and a couple have also been performed on the radio.
When I bought my first computer in 1998 I decided that I
would post them 'on the net'
to reach a wider audience
and so here they are !
This newly constructed Website allows the visitor, not only
to read the monologues,
but also to hear them read by the author by clicking-on the Audio link
which will open-up a new window
and, lastly, please please please
don't forget to sign my guestbook......thanks !
